How Consistency will make you successful | Achieve anything you desire

Every successful person will admit, that success is not an overnight occurrence. Everyone wants to be successful. Everyone works hard to achieve that success. But then why is it that only a few are able to succeed?

It is because of a major difference between those who fail and those who succeed. It is CONSISTENCY.

It is not the lack of talent, skills, luck, or knowledge that leads to failure in most cases. It is the lack of consistent efforts. All successful people run on this dominant mentality of doing whatever it takes and doing it consistently, day in and day out.

What is Consistency?

When you set a goal, whether it is personal or professional, whether it is a health goal, relationship goal, or career goal, you know the exact things you need to do to achieve that goal. You know how your day/routine should look like. Consistency means following that routine, showing up every day, and taking one step closer towards your goals.

Why Consistency matters?

It matters because it is an essential ingredient for your success in any field.

Let’s say you set a health goal and to achieve that, you start to workout. Now, you won’t see the results in a day, or a week or a month. You need to workout every day for several months or years to see significant results.

The same is with the business, if you want to survive in the market and grow your business, you need to be putting in the effort every day.

The rewards of consistency are huge. It gives you the benefits of compounding. In his book, “You Can Win”, Shiv Khera mentions that one of the reasons why people fail is the lack of consistency.

How to be Consistent?

So now the question comes, how do we become consistent in what we are doing? Are there any things to keep in mind or any habits that’ll make the process easier? Yes! There are a few things that you can follow, and which will help you be more consistent with what you do and increase your odds of being successful.

Let’s dive into these tips:

1. Remember your Why

This is the most important factor for doing anything consistently. You are giving a major part of your life to that thing. The time that will never come back in your life is being devoted to that.

Why? Why does it matter to you? Why did you start with it in the first place? Reminding yourself of the end goal every day will help you to stay focused and motivated. This way you’ll begin enjoying the process.

2. Pick one thing and stick to it

If you are starting with something. Pick one goal at a time. In the beginning, you might feel motivated to take multiple things but do not fall for that. In the long run, it doesn’t work.

As doctors say, ‘Don’t try to quit smoking and control sugar at the same time.’ Take one thing at a time. Accomplish that and then move on to another.

3. Schedule

Initially, you’ll be using your willpower to stay committed. But that won’t work in the long run. You need to build a schedule for yourself and follow it. After few days, it’ll become your habit.

Once, it becomes a habit, it gets easier. As said by Stephen Covey, “The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule but to schedule your priorities.”

4. Push yourself a little

There will be days when you’ll wake up in the morning and say, “Nah…..not today.”. But hey, do not fall for that either. You don’t feel like doing something, do it anyways.

Most of the time, the deeper part inside us knows that we are making excuses. At those time, push yourself a little. But on some days, if you genuinely feel you need a break. Go ahead and do that.
